Nigerian conjoined twins, Hassanah and Hasina, have been successfully separated after a 14-hour operation in Saudi Arabia.
The surgery, conducted by an 85-member specialist medical team, involved seven out of eight stages at the King Abdullah Specialist Hospital for Children in King Abdulaziz Medical City.
The twins, born in January 2022, shared several vital organs.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia covered the expenses and has a history of supporting such cases, having previously separated 55 sets of conjoined twins from 23 countries.
Nigeria’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia expressed gratitude for the humanitarian gesture extended to the twins.
